Andrew Rice Says GOP Fiscal Policies Hurt Social Security

Oklahoma City, OK – Oklahoma U.S. Senate candidate Andrew Rice said today he would never support privatizing Social Security.

The Oklahoma City Democrat made the announcement at state party headquarters during a celebration of the 73rd anniversary of Social Security.

The program was established on this date in 1935 under Democratic President Franklin Roosevelt.

Rice charged Republican Senator Jim Inhofe has assisted President Bush in policies that have created financial peril for the country.

Rice says the Social Security system is not broke, but adjustments may have to be made to keep it solvent in the future.

One such adjustment he suggests is raising the cap on which Social Security taxes are paid.

The cap is now $102,000.
