Cole Drops Bid for Re-Election as Head of National Committee

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Tom Cole of Oklahoma today dropped out of the race for re-election as head of the National Republican Congressional Committee.

The party chose Pete Sessions of Texas to lead the committee which supports Republicans running for the house.

The GOP lost ground to Democrats in the Nov. 4 elections.

Republicans also voted to retain Rep. John Boehner as House leader but chose Rep. Eric Cantor of Virginia as whip and Rep. Mike Pence of Indiana as chairman of the Republican Conference.
