Heavy Rain in Austin Leaves Burned Governor's Mansion Soggy

Austin, TX – Heavy overnight rain in the Austin area is blamed for leaving parts of the burned Texas governor's mansion -- a bit soggy.

Work continues to restore the historic building that was torched on June 8th.

So far no arrests in the case investigators say is arson.

A temporary roof is expected on the mansion by October.

Edward Johnson with the Texas Facilities Commission says there's plastic on the damaged roof, but some leaks are still happening.

Johnson told the Austin American-Statesman on Tuesday that the shoring of the fire-damaged second floor is nearly complete. He says plans call for a crane to be moved into place in the next couple of weeks to begin removing the fire-collapsed roof.
