Henry Names Butkin to Head Transition Team

Oklahoma City, Ok. – The selection of State Treasurer Robert Butkin, now in his third term in the office, to head the transition team was made public during a news conference called by Governor-elect Brad Henry today.
Henry stated about one dozen more team members would be identified next week to help with recommendations about possible appointments to the state's boards and commissions and other matters.
Henry also noted his plans to attend the special legislative session called for Monday on the emergency funding for the Oklahoma State Department of Corrections. That agency planned budget cutting efforts included furloughing employees, among them prison guards which raised public safety concerns.
The Young Democrats at the University of Central Oklahoma say they are cosponsoring a demonstration for students from across the state at the Oklahoma Capitol during Monday's special session. It's to protest against current Governor Frank Keating, a republican, not putting education funding on the special session agenda.
