Lawton Arts and Humanities Plans Programs

Lawton, Ok. – According to Lawton Arts and Humanities Administrator Margaret Chalfant, the $24,000 dollars in matching grants for programming in FY'03-04 from the Oklahoma Arts Council and the National Endowment for the Arts will allow annual programs to continue and even begin a new venture for children's art enrichment.
The money will go the the International Festival, Community Arts, Publications, School of the Arts and TheatreWorks, a children's performance.
The Oklahoma Arts Council funds more than 1,200 events a year with an estimated attendance of more than 3.5 million total visitors. Projects funded by the council generally account for more than $20 million in grants and matching funds distributed throughout Oklahoma's economy in urban and rural communities.
