Austin, TX – The Summer Olympics are long over, but Texas athletes and coaches who took part are still being honored.
Gov. Rick Perry yesterday welcomed some Texas Olympians to the state Capitol.
They were recognized with proclamations over their accomplishments during the 2008 games in Beijing.
Perry says the Olympians are role models for all Texans.
Among the more than one dozen Olympians at the Texas Capitol were track and field star Jeremy Wariner and swimming great Aaron Peirsol.
