Norman, OK – Each week more than 2.5 million listeners enjoy Garrison Keillor's "A Prairie Home Companion" radio show on more than 450 public radio stations including KCCU. Keillor will present his free talk in the Paul F. Sharp Concert Hall in Catlett Music Center, 500 W. Boyd, on the O.U. Norman campus. Those attending are urged to arrive early to ensure seating. The lobby will open at 3 p.m. with Keillor to start speaking at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 8. O.U. Oklahoma City, OK – State health department officials note initial doses of last year's vaccine were not received by local health departments and nursing homes until November 7. But from information about distribution this year, officials expect Oklahoma to have half of its total doses in the state by November 1 with another 40 percent arriving in November. They recommend high risk persons--those over age 64, having some chronic health conditions, children from six months to 23 months old, and health care workers--be vaccinated first.
Lawton, OK – Cameron University's Academic Festival V, "Beyond Borders: Globalization & The Human Experience," continues this week with Thursday's 7 p.m. lecture which is free for the public. Guest peaker is Dr. Russell Buhite, currently a professor at the University of Missouri-Rolla. Buhite will examine the history of terrorism and hostage-taking directed against the U.S. during the past 30 years. He will assess the interplay between acts of violence against Americans and U.S. policy overseas. The free lecture is open to the public at the University Theater.
Lawton, Ok. – The Festival V lecture is free to the public on Thursday at 7 p.m. at the University Theater featuring Dr. Russell Buhite from the University of Missouri at Rolla. Convocation at the Fine Arts Courtyard Friday morning at 10:30 a.m. includes the induction ceremony for Dr. Ross. That afternoon there are campus tours and two seminars, one on investing, the other on leadership. A 6 p.m. cookout is followed by a dance.
